Gurry Tools / Privacy

Privacy policy

Effective: November 6, 2026

Gurry Tools Backup is a personal, self-hosted backup application. It is operated for the owner's use, not offered as a public service.

What data is processed

The application backs up the owner's Gurry Tools SQLite database, which may contain financial planning information entered by the owner. The server creates backup files locally and encrypts those files before transferring them to the owner's Google Drive account.

Google user data and access

Google OAuth is used to authorize access to the owner's Google Drive. The utility requests the drive.file scope so it can create, list, retrieve, and delete files associated with its own backups. OAuth tokens are held in the owner's local rclone configuration on the self-hosted server. The application does not intentionally access unrelated Drive files or any Gmail, contacts, or calendar data.

How data is used

Google Drive access is used solely to store and manage encrypted backup files, apply the configured retention policy, and recover backups when requested by the owner. The application does not use Google user data for advertising, profiling, or analytics.

Sharing and storage

No backup contents or Google user data are sold or deliberately shared with third parties. Encrypted backups are uploaded to Google Drive, where Google's service terms and security policies also apply. The encryption keys are maintained separately by the owner; possession of a backup file alone is insufficient to decrypt it.

Retention and deletion

The backup process is intended to retain the five latest successful daily cloud backups, deleting older copies after a replacement is confirmed. Local backup retention is configured separately. The owner may manually delete backups from Google Drive and may revoke application access through Google Account security settings.

Security

Backups are encrypted locally before transfer over HTTPS. Credentials and encryption keys are not published on this website. This informational site does not host, expose, or provide access to any financial database or backup content.

Changes and questions

This policy may be updated if the backup application's data practices change. Questions may be directed to the application owner via the support email shown on Google's OAuth consent screen.
